Turquoise Texas

Decades after the Mississippi dries up, the absence of the river’s sediment and fertilizer runoff changes the water of the Texas coast from a murky green to a Turquoise blue.

Manny is an engineer holding one of the last jobs in his field. He loves the blue sea and visits Galveston every time he can, but feels obsolete and overspecialized. When Manny is finally laid off, he can only find a job filling vending machines. Manny leaves the comforts of his suburban life and faces the streets he had avoided since arriving in Houston. He will find the disdain of the privileged, the merciless competition of the automated delivery trucks, and a heartbreaking population of homeless kids hiding in the entrails of the city.
